How does scaling work?
Our SQL Database service allows you to scale compute (vCPUs and RAM) and storage independently. You can scale compute resources up or down with minimal downtime, and storage scales automatically as your data grows.
Can I migrate my existing database?
Yes, we provide tools and services to help you migrate your existing databases with minimal downtime. We support native database migration tools as well as our own migration service that can handle complex migrations.
How are backups handled?
Automated backups are included with all plans. Backups are taken daily and retained according to your plan (7, 14, or 35 days). You can also create manual backups at any time, and perform point-in-time recovery to any second within the retention period.
What is the maximum database size supported?
Our SQL Database service supports databases up to 16 TB in size for Enterprise plans. If you need larger databases, please contact our sales team for custom solutions.
How do read replicas work?
Read replicas are copies of your primary database that can handle read queries, offloading work from the primary instance. They can be created in the same region or cross-region for disaster recovery. Read replicas are available in Standard and Enterprise plans.
What security features are available?
Our SQL Database service includes encryption at rest and in transit, network isolation through VPC, IAM integration for access control, and audit logs for compliance and security monitoring.
